PROFESSIONAL
STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Nearly
one million dollars in grants for out-of-state studies
in the fields of dentistry, optometry, veterinary
medicine, pharmacy, and physician assistants. The
program is competitive, open to all Nevada residents.
The tuition is paid directly to the schools on your
behalf at a reduced rate. You must repay 25%
of the support fee within 5-10 years after you graduate
and return to Nevada and practice the profession for
which you received assistance for as many years as you
received support.
HEALTH
CARE ACCESS PROGRAM (HCAP)
The
State of Nevada is concerned over the growing number of
medically underserved people. Therefore, WICHE has
offered a relatively new program for Nevada students.
The fields of studies are dentistry, pharmacy, physical
therapy, nursing, mental health and physician
assistants. The tuition is paid directly to the schools
on your behalf at a reduced rate. You will not
be required to repay any portion of the
funds, but you must
return to Nevada and practice in a
medically underserved region or with a medically
underserved population for two years. The penalties on
these programs are sever, if the students do not fill
their requirements the students are requested to pay
triple the principle and 8% interest compounded daily.
This program is competitive, based upon ranking
by the institutions and interview with WICHE.
